Laura Fürsich is an analytical sociologist interested in social processes in space. Her research interests span sociology, urban planning, social networks, and social influence. In her work, Laura focuses on studying social mechanisms in spatial contexts and links social network to the emergence and perpetuation of residential segregation. To that end, she uses a combination of Agent-based models, discrete choice models, and matching procedures on Swedish and Dutch administrative data. As a Mansueto Fellow she studies the complex feedback loops between social stratification and segregation to further the understanding of cities as spaces of interaction that shape individuals’ lives. Laura holds a PhD in Analytical Sociology from the Institute of Analytical Sociology at Linköping University, Sweden. Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Economics at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen/ Nürnberg.
