Tyler McGaughey
Media Relations Manager
As the media relations manager for both the Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation and the Harris School of Public Policy, Tyler McGaughey works out of the University Communications office to broaden public understanding of UChicago scholarship and drive media engagement around research, key projects and initiatives. Prior to joining the University Communications team in 2022, Tyler worked at the University of Chicago Press for 7 years as a Business Development Associate and Senior Promotions Manager. He oversaw publicity campaigns for books in subjects including U.S. history, urban studies, sociology, world literature, and music, and successfully landed book reviews in outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, and London Review of Books. His short fiction has appeared in literary journals including Washington Square Review and Mystery Tribune. He grew up in West Texas, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Beloit College, and lives in Lincoln Square with his wife and two children.
